Genital Skin Problems

Dr Palamaras has extensive experience in both skin- and sexually-related genital skin diseases as he has been running a specialised "Genital Dermatoses" clinic at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Hospitals since February 2009. Dr Palamaras is able to detect, investigate, diagnose and appropriately manage viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections of the genital area. Additionally, he can confidently deal with the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs), dermatologic, premalignant and malignant diseases of the genitalia.

The diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the skin of both male and female genital organs present a huge challenge as there is large number of different diseases that may affect this area. In addition to skin conditions, sexually transmitted infections can also cause skin changes.

Dr Palamaras has received specialist training in this field at the Dermatology department at the Western Attica General Hospital in Athens, Greece and in two large Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) Clinics: one open-access clinic (St Mary’s Hospital, London, second larger HIV/AIDS unit in the UK), and one by appointment (Mortimer Market Centre & Archway Sexual health centre, London).

Dr Palamaras has achieved the Diploma in Genitourinary Medicine (Dip GUMed), by The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London, UK, on December 2004.

He is one of the authors in a book for workshop in sexually transmitted infections: Clinical features and treatment guidelines of the sexually transmitted infections (excluding HIV) (in Greek language) for the 31st Annual Pan-Hellenic Medical Congress, Athens, Greece in May 2005.
