Nail Problems

Dr Palamaras was trained in nail disorders with the world-renowned expert Professor Antonella Tosti in Bologna, Italy. Dr Palamaras has developed a special interest in all nail-related problems such as infections including bacterial and fungal, psoriasis, eczema, non typical pigmentation/discoloration and nail cancers.

Since nails are part of the skin, Dermatologists are the most experience persons to deal with nail problems. Fingernails and toenails are part of the skin and made of modified skin cells called corneocytes (cornified keratinocytes). The nail unit is made of the nail matrix from where the nail grows, the nail bed, the nail plate above it and the skin around the nail which is called periungual skin or paronychium.
